DAYTONA BEACH, Fla - Tennis closes out the fall calendar down the road at Stetson and Cross Country caps off the fall at the SWAC Championships. For their contributions, Maria Vargas and Jayden Santos-Gonzalez have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of October 26-November 1, 2026.

Maria Vargas continues a strong fall campaign for the tennis team. Down in DeLand, she won her singles match on Saturday against Lynn Sophomore, Emma Bousquet. She competed well on Sunday, narrowly dropping the match to Stetson.

Jayden Santos-Gonzalez capped off an impressive debut as a Wildcat with a runner-up finish at the SWAC Championships, 3 seconds behind the champion. He was also named to the All-SWAC First Team. This fall, Jayden also accumulated two SWAC Newcomer of the Week awards.

Each week, the Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award.

This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
