Daytona Beach, Fla. – Malina Spencer entered the Bethune-Cookman record books, tying the fifth-highest hit percentage in program history with .688 on the night, but it was not enough as the Wildcats fell to Alabama State, 3-1, Friday night at Moore Gymnasium.
Spencer totaled 12 kills on 16 attacks on the night with only one error. Her .688 hit percentage ties Linda Nwabuko for the fifth-highest attack percentage in a game in the history of the program. Spencer led the Wildcats in kills for the game.
The Wildcats (3-15, 3-4 SWAC) fell behind early in the first set and could not recover, with the Hornets (7-14, 4-2 SWAC) prevailing 25-14. B-CU quickly rebounded, taking a 9-3 lead early and holding on to take the second set 25-21 behind six kills for Spencer.
The Wildcats could not hold on, however, as the Hornets prevailed to take the final two sets to win the match, 3-1. Kalysia Bates led the Hornets with 28 kills on the night.

Alleah Dallas added to her impressive defensive season with a solo block and a block assist, while
Kaylan Curry added a solo block and two block assists of her own.
Jacynta Williams finished with 21 digs.
The Wildcats will take a breather Saturday to prepare to take on Alabama A&M Sunday at 1 p.m. at Moore Gymnasium.
