GRAMBLING, La. – The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats were defeated by Arkansas – Pine Bluff and Grambling State in their first two of the three-game Grambling cluster, Saturday in Louisiana.
Bethune-Cookman (5-18, 5-7 SWAC) opened the afternoon with the Arkansas – Pine Bluff Lions (12-13, 8-1 SWAC). The Lions opened the first set with a 8-1 run, but the Wildcats battled back to pull to within 13-16 before eventually falling, 25-18.
B-CU kept things closer for much of the second set before falling again, 25-18. The Wildcats pulled out to a 10-2 lead in the second set before a Lions run that ended things at 25-16.
In the second match of the evening, the Wildcats were unable to top the cluster hosts, Grambling State (8-13. 5-5 SWAC). The Wildcats fell to the Tigers, 3-0.
The Wildcats will conclude their Grambling road trip with a Halloween matchup with Texas Southern, Sunday at noon, ET.
