JACKSONVILLE – A Bethune-Cookman fourth quarter run stalled as North Florida posted a 60-47 decision Sunday at UNF Arena.
Back-to-back three-pointers from
Camary Harris and
Morgan Beacham capped off a 10-0 run that brought the Wildcats (2-6) back to 52-47 with 2:52 to play.
Those would be the last B-CU points of the afternoon, as B-CU missed its final three shots and committed three turnover down stretch as UNF (6-5) closed the game with an 8-0 run.
The Wildcats (2-6) outrebounded the Ospreys 37-31 and limited them to 3-23 from three-point range, but could not overcome 28 turnovers.
All nine Wildcats scored, led by
Tatum Hayes, who scored seven of her nine points in the first quarter as B-CU used a 10-2 run to close to 16-15 after the first 10 minutes.
Freshman
Kayla Clark had a game-high 10 rebounds, her fourth straight double-figure rebounding game.
B-CU hosts Florida International Tuesday at 6 p.m.
HEAD COACH JANELL CRAYTON
"It's hard to beat any team, let alone a good one with 28 turnovers. That led to 22 of their points. We have to continue to work on our discipline and execution. We'll be better."
"I liked our fight. It's a game of runs, but sometimes those runs get extended. UNF would get it up to 13, and we'll get it back to five or seven. We know we can come back, it's just a matter of finding a way to get over the top."
"Kayla is working hard. Sometimes it's she rebounding one against four, but she still comes up with the ball. We know that's going to continue."
