Recap

The Wildcats were originally scheduled to take on the University of Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, Dec. 29, but the game was called off due to an abundance of caution concerning COVID-19.

The Wildcats have not seen the floor since December 22, when they struggled at Marist College in New York, falling by a score of 68-45. The Wildcats shot only 21 percent in the effort – Marcus Garrett led the Wildcats with nine points.

Scouting the Rattlers

The Rattlers may also show some signs of rust after an even longer layoff than B-CU. FAMU has not played since December 19, when the Rattlers took a 73-62 loss to UCSB in Santa Barbara, CA. FAMU has since had two games, at Arizona State, and at Illinois, cancelled.

FAMU is averaging 62.5 points per game and allowing an average of 71.4 points. The Rattlers are shooting 40 percent from the field and 26 percent from three. MJ Randolph leads the Rattlers with an average of 19.2 points per game. Bryce Moragne leads FAMU on the boards averaging nearly seven per game.

Notes
  • The Wildcats are only scheduled to play one more non-conference contest this season – a rescheduling of a game at Florida International, which will now be played on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
  • Monday's game was originally scheduled to be the second of a four-game homestand– B-CU's longest of the season. After multiple schedule rearrangements, the Wildcats will play no more than two consecutive games at home at any point to close out this season.
  • With non-conference play coming to a close, Bethune-Cookman sits in fourth place in the SWAC entering play Monday.
All-Time Series

This will be the 170th time in their historic rivalry that the Rattlers and Wildcats will meet on the basketball court. FAMU owns a 100-69 edge in the series. B-CU, however, is 11-2 in the last 13 of those meetings, most recently with a 72-70 overtime victory on March 5, 2020.
