DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Wildcats started strong but could not keep the momentum as they fell to Alabama State in four sets, Friday night at Moore Gymnasium.
How it Happened
The Wildcats opened Friday to the tune of a 12-5 lead. The Hornets clawed back into the set, cutting the lead to just one at 21-20, but the Wildcats persevered for the set one victory.
From there, the game swung in favor of Alabama State, as the Hornets took set two, 25-21 after hitting .378 with 37 kills.
The Hornets kept the heat on in the final, holding off the Wildcats, 25-14 and 25-13 for the victory.
NOTES
- Mecca Freeman led the Wildcats with 13 kills, followed by Alleah Dallas with nine.
- Freeman and Dallas both finished with three blocks.
- Alisha Callender finished with 27 assists.
- The Wildcats still hold the eighth spot in the SWAC standings with three games to play on the season. Ninth-place Prairie View A&M has a game in hand with four remaining against Grambling State, UAPB, Southern, and Alcorn State
