REENSBORO, N.C. – Bethune-Cookman concluded the opening weekend of the 2022 season with a 3-0 (25-18,25-12,25-15) setback to North Carolina A&T and a 3-1 (25-16,27-29,25-15,25-18) loss to Coppin State Saturday.
COPPIN STATE 3, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 1
Jasmine Moore had 15 kills as the Wildcats (0-3) tied the match with a second set victory.
B-CU recovered from three Coppin State (2-1) set points, taking the win with three unanswered points – a Moore kill, a block by
Alisha Callender and
Alleah Dallas, and a
Jaedyn Newman kill.
Kytal Price had four kills and seven blocks from B-CU, while Callender had four kills, 11 assists, three blocks and seven digs.
Freeman finished with five kills, and Davis posted three kills and three blocks.
NORTH CAROLINA A&T 3, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 0
Moore posted seven kills while Callender and
Malina Spencer added four each as the Wildcats started the day with a loss to North Carolina A&T.
Dallas had five blocks, followed by Spencer with four and three, respectively.
Janleen De Jesus and
Madison Coates posted eight assists each.
Jacynta Williams led the Wildcats with six digs.
Moore was named to the All Tournament team.
NEXT UP: B-CU travels to Texas next weekend for the Houston Baptist tournament, facing Louisiana-Monroe and host Houston Baptist Friday and California-Riverside Saturday.
