BCU takes down Southern in five sets

HOUSTON - Mia Delahoussaye totaled 23 kills Monday night as Bethune-Cookman Volleyball claimed a 3-2 thriller victory over Southern University in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest inside the Health & Physical Education Arena. BCU secured the match on set scores of 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-13.

Bethune-Cookman (3-14, 3-3 SWAC) dropped the first two sets by only 3 and 4 points to start. The Jaguars were up 2-0, and the Wildcats were looking to make a statement. By the middle of the 3rd set, the Cats commanded a 10-6 lead over Southern, and their confidence began to shine.

In the fourth set, Elizabeth Philips totaled 7 kills and 14 total attempts. Minutes before the end of the set, the Wildcats commanded a 23-22 lead over SU. But in the end, their efforts fell just short, and it was the Jaguars who claimed Set No. 4 by only 3 points.
