BCU was defeated by the Delware State Hornets 64-72 during their second game in the Brock Classic. The loss is the team's second straight and dropped them to 3-3 on the season.
The Wildcats started the game off strong, jumping off to an early 10-4 lead by making four of their first nine field-goal attempts.BCU would maintain its lead until the 4:54 mark in the first half. The Hornets tied the game were able to take the lead with 1:01 left thanks to a pull up jumper by Deywilk Tavarez. The Wildcats would go into the halftime locker room down 32-28.
Neither squad shot particularly well in the first half, with both teams shooting under 40%. Turnovers were even at five a piece, and the rebound margin was two in favor of the Hornets.
Bethune-Cookman tied the game at 32-32 following a layup byÂ
Jakobi Heady less than a minute after the start of the second half. The Hornets quickly responded with an 8-0 run that would give them the lead for the remainder of the game. Delaware State was able to increase its lead to double digits multiple times, including a 14-point lead with 5:41 remaining. The WIldcats cut the lead to six following a layup byÂ
Reggie Ward Jr. with less than three minutes to go. The Hornets were able to close out the win, outscoring BCU 5-3 the rest of the way.
The Wildcats offense was much improved in the second half, shooting 52% from the field and 44% from three. However, Delaware State shot a sparkling 63% and increased the rebound margin to five by the end of the game. The Hornets were also effective in generating free-throw attempts as they shot 21 compared to only 12 for the Wildcats.
Delaware State received double figure scoring efforts from five players. Guard Martaz Robinson led the pack with 15 points followed by Wesley Oba with 14. Oba was also the team's leading rebounder with 11 as he picked up his first double-double of the season. Deywilk Tavarez, Jevin Munez, and Dean Shephard each had 13 points.

Reggie Ward Jr., who both had 19 points. Dyson also contributed three steals while Ward Jr. picked up eight rebounds which led the team. GuardÂ
Jakobi Heady had 10 points.Â
Zion Harmon finished with a team-high six assists but had a tough shooting night, making just one of his 11 field goal attempts.
.Longwood is 5-1 on the season and is currently on a five-game winning streak following a season-opening loss to St. Bonaventure. They are 2-0 in the Brock Classic, defeating both Delaware State and Lamar.
The Lancers are averaging 80.7 ppg and have outscored their opponents by around 15 on average.They have shot 45% for the season from the field. However, they have struggled from three-point range, shooting just 30% on six makes per game. Longwood has been dominant on the boards so far as they have out-rebounded their opponents in every game but one.
Longwood has three players who are all averaging around 13 points per game: Michael Christmas, Johnathan Massie, and Walyn Napper. Napper is the leader in field-goal attempts but has only shot 40% so far this season. Christmas is the team's leading rebounder at 7.3 per game. Massie is coming off a 20-point, eight-rebound performance against Lamar.
Bethune-Cookman and Longwood have faced off just one time in each program's history. The Wildcats won their only matchup 66-62 back in 2009.
