PRATVILLE, Ala.  – Skylar Kew wrapped up day one of the Alabama State Spring Classic tied for third overall as the Wildcats find themselves in fourth place as a team with 15 holes to play.

Day one of the two-day event was cut short due to darkness. The field completed 30 of 36 holes Sunday. The remaining six holes of round one will be made up Monday, followed by nine holes to conclude the event. Teams were originally scheduled to play 18 holes on day two.

How it Happened

The Wildcats conclude the first round with a 327 team score, 39 strokes over par. They trail Sacred Heart at +21, Samford at +22, and Texas Southern at +36.

"I'm really proud of the way everyone handled themselves today," B-CU head coach Harry Stokes said. "This was the longest day of golf that we've played this year, including the fall. The first round was our lowest of the year, and the fourth straight round that we've improved going back to our last tournament. This is largely a conference tournament and I think our performance today bodes well for us going forward."
 
Kew led the way for B-CU, shooting a round-one 76 to tie her for third with two other golfers on the overall individual leaderboard. Kew finished the round second in the field in total birdies with three, one of only two players to record three or more.

Behind Kew finished Kyleigh Leaf, who shot an 82 on the day, followed by Kamary Leaf with an 84, and Emma Hastie with an 85. Jordan Davis also competed for B-CU.

The Wildcats will face 15 more holes tomorrow – 6 make-up holes from round two and an additional nine - with golfers set to tee off at 8 a.m.
