DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Wildcats evened up a critical SWAC series off the bat of
Robert Moya as they defeated FAMU, 9-2, Saturday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
How It Happened
The Wildcats dominated from start to finish, breaking onto the scoreboard in the third on a
Robert Moya solo homer and a
Jeremy Garcia RBI single that scored a pair.
The Wildcats tacked on another run in the fourth as Garcia singled again, chasing in Souffrain from third to make it 4-0.
A crooked number in the fifth put B-CU up 9-0. Moya broke things open with a three-run homer to dead center field that scored
Hylan Hall and Boris Pena.
The inning continued for B-CU after a walk, single, passed ball, walk, and bases-loaded walk scored Souffrain. Two batters later, Garret Chun walked to score
Irvin Escobar from third to make it 9-0.
The Rattlers took advantage of a B-CU throwing error in the seventh to plate a pair of unearned runs that made it 9-2, but that would be all for FAMU.
Marcos Gamboa was stellar in the start for the Wildcats He worked 7.2 innings, allowing only two unearned runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Gabriel Perez finished off the game for B-CU, allowing only one hit in 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
