Coral Gables, Fla. – Despite crossing the plate in each of the final four innings of the contest, the Wildcats could not overcome some early inning damage by the Hurricanes, Tuesday night in Coral Gables.
Miami (23-13 10-8 ACC) stuck early, plating five runs in the second on an RBI triple and a pair of solo homers.
The long ball continued to hurt the Wildcats in the third, as a pair of solo shots and an RBI double quickly made it 9-0 through three full innings.
Miami added another run in the fifth, again on a solo home run, Miami's fourth of the game.
The Wildcats (20-15, 11-2 SWAC) finally crossed the plate in the sixth, as a
Jorge Braceras groundout scored
Robert Moya from third.
The Wildcats scored a pair in the seventh, as
Jeremy Garcia came around to score after help from a Hurricanes error and a double-play ball from
Malik Stephens.
Leandro Perez made it 10-3 with an RBI single to left that scored
Franki Febles.
Miami tacked on another in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly.
A wild pitch allowed
Carlos Oquita to score in the top of the eighth to make it 11-4, Miami. A few batter s later, Braceras crossed home on an RBI single from Stephens.
Miami added one more a half-inning later on an RBI double that made it 12-5.
B-CU grabbed one more run in the ninth as Perez opened the final half-inning with a double and scored on an Oquita groundout to make it 12-6.
Louis Lipthratt made the start and took the loss for the Wildcats.

Yoansell Diaz, and
Gerald Bess combined on the mound the rest of the way.
The SWAC road trip continues for the Wildcats this weekend as they travel to Montgomery, Ala. for a rematch with the defending champions, Alabama State. First pitch in game one is set for Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m.
