JACKSON, Miss. – The Wildcats dropped both of a Sunday doubleheader to Jackson State, 5-3 and 7-3 respectively, Sunday afternoon at Braddy Field.
GAME ONE - JSU 5, B-CU 3 (7 innings)
Jackson State (23-18 8-13 SWAC) opened game one of the afternoon with an RBI single in the bottom of the first to quickly make it 1-0, Tigers.
The Wildcats (21-20, 12-7 SWAC) battled back in the third, scoring three on a Boris Pena sacrifice fly. and
Garrett Chun RBI single to make it 3-1.
The game moved quickly and quietly from there until the bottom of the seventh. Jackson State singled, then quickly fouled out back-to-back batters. A batter reached on an error before a walk loaded the bases with two away. The tigers walked things off with a grand slam to left that ended things at 5-3.
Daniel Gaviria made the start, allowing three earned runs in seven innings with four walks and six strikeouts.
GAME TWO - JSU 7, B-CU 3
It was Jackson State striking first again in the second contest of the afternoon, scoring three first-inning runs on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, and a pair of passed balls.
The Tigers added an insurance run an inning later on an RBI single.
The Wildcats took a run back in the top of the fourth as a
Jeremy Garcia sacrifice fly made it 4-1.
Jackson State struck again in the bottom of the fifth as they loaded the bases and scored on a bases-loaded balk.
B-CU closed the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the seventh as
Hylan Hall scored
Brian Perez on an RBI single through the left side of the infield.
Chun came around to score a batter later on a Pena single.
The Tigers took two runs back a half-inning later on an RBI double and a fielder's choice. The Tigers held on for the 7-3 win and the series victory.
Pablo Torres made the start and took the loss for B-CU. He allowed one earned run on no hits with four walks and a pair of strikeouts in an inning of work.

Alec Mendez also appared in the bullpen game for the Cats.
- The Wildcats hold the No. 3 spot in the SWAC's East standings. With two games in hand, they trail Florida A&M by two games in the loss column, Alabama State by four.
The Wildcats face a pair of midweek contests for the first time this season, beginning with a trip to Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins for the second time this season. First pitch of that game is set for Tuesday, May 2nd at 7 p.m.
