DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It was announced Wednesday, April 5, that Bethune-Cookman Women's Golf Head Coach Harry Stokes has signed Meeya Marquez to the incoming class for the fall 2023 season.
 
"This is a great addition to our incoming class for next season," said Stokes. "This young lady has all the tools to be successful – not just within the Southwestern Athletic Conference, but in the sport of golf overall. I am just glad she chose to be a Wildcat because she's certainly a player to watch for the future."
 
Marquez, a product of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, is a native of Chatsworth, California. The 5-foot-3 senior has been a four-year letterwinner for Notre Dame High, in addition to competing regularly in the SCPGA, CJG, VCJGA and AJGA tournaments, respectively.
 
It was not until 2019 that she took up golf fulltime, as she originally played soccer growing up.
 
"I tell you what, Meeya just has athleticism in her blood," confessed Stokes. "Compared to so many others, she's relatively new to the sport of golf, but it just comes so naturally to her. She's just an athlete, and that type of natural athleticism can't be coached."
 
In 2022, she helped Notre Dame High to a league title, as well as her squad being named Southern CIF Regional Champions. The team eventually took part in the CIF State Finals at Poppy Hills in pebble Beach, California.
 
In 2021, Marquez was part of the Notre Dame High team that competed in the CIF SoCal Regional Tournament at Brookside Golf Club.
