TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Wildcats poured on 18 hits as they took game two over Florida A&M, Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee.
The Wildcats (27-22, 18-7 SWAC) wasted no time in game two, plating two runs in the first on a
Hylan Hall RBI double and a
Manny Souffrain RBI single that made it 2-0 in a hurry.
The Rattlers (22-25, 16-10 SWAC) tied things up in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer.
In the top of the fifth,
Robert Moya's sacrifice fly scored Hall to make it 3-2, B-CU.
FAMU took its first lead of the series in the sixth on an RBI single and RBI double that made it 4-3.
B-CU broke things open in the seventh with a five-run inning.
Colton Olasin put the WIldcats in front with an RBI single, scoring Souffrain before
Jeremy Garcia and
Luis Tuero made it 8-4 with a pair of RBI singles.
The Wildcats added another in the eight as Souffrain again drove home Hall to make it 9-4.
FAMU rallied for a pair of runs in the eighth, but
Joan Gonzalez ended the threat with a flyout.
B-CU put the game away in the ninth thanks to a FAMU error and bases-loaded walk to make it 11-6.
Daniel Gaviria made the start and earned the win. In six innings, he allowed four earned runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Pablo Torres took the seventh and worked into the eighth. He allowed two earned runs on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
Joan Gonzalez was credited with the save. In 1.1 innnings, he allowed only one hit with a strikeout.
- Every Wildcat recorded at least one hit in the contest.
- Luis Tuero finished the day 3-5 with two RBI.
- Manny Souffrain went 4-6 with four RBI.
- Hylan hall went 5-6 with an RBI and four runs scored.
- Five hits for Hylan Hall is the most by a Wildcat in a single game this season.
- Moya extended his on-base streak to 31 games.
- The Wildcats now hold a 2.5 game lead in the SWAC East's No. 2 spot over FAMU.
The Wildcats will look for a series sweep Sunday, with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
