Rattlers Spoil Wildcat Rally in Extras

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida A&M overcame a three-run Wildcat ninth to avoid the weekend sweep in extra innings, Sunday afternoon in Tallahassee.

The Rattlers (23-25, 17-10 SWAC) opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI triple that scored two to make it 2-0 early.

The Wildcats (27-23, 18-9 SWAC) finally crossed the plate in the sixth as Manny Souffrain scored Hylan Hall with an RBI double.

FAMU took the run back in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of a B-CU error to maintain their 2-run lead. 

The Wildcats rallied in the ninth against the Rattler bullpen. They opened the fram with back-to-back singles before a FAMU error allowed Robert Moya and pinch-runner Yoansell Diaz to score and tie things at 3-3. 

Malik Stephens put the Wildcats in front for the first time in the afternoon with a single ot center that scored Colton Olasin to make it 4-3. 

The Rattlers knotted things at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single. They ended things in the tenth with another RBI single for the 5-4 win. 

Santiago Gomez made the start for B-CU on the mound. In five innings, he allowed two earned runs on three hits with four walks and a strikeout.

Dale Michaud provided three strong innings in relieve, allowing only a single hit with two strikeouts. 

Joan Gonzalez was saddled with the loss. In 1.2 innings he allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
