Knights Conquer Wildcats in Midweek Finale

ORLANDO, Fla. - A late homer from Brian Perez was not enough as the Wildcats dropped their final midweek contest of the season to UCF, 11-7, Tuesday night in Orlando.

Header How it Happened

The Wildcats (27-23, 18-7 SWAC) crossed the plate first in the top of the first as Hylan Hall doubled home Garrett Chun to make it 1-0, B-CU.

UCF (30-23, 10-11 AAC) took the lead in the second on a two-run homer to left. They added another run on an RBI single an inning later.

The Wildcats grabbed a run back in the fourth as Robert Moya's groundout allowed Jason Hodges to score.

UCF push the lead to 7-2 in the fifth in a four-run inning featuring an RBI fielder's choice, double, and sacrifice fly. They scored another in the sixth on another sacrifice fly.

B-CU made it 8-4 in the seventh on a Boria Pena solo homer and Brian Perez groundout that scored Jorge Braceras.

UCF took those runs right back in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch and RBI single. They made it 11-4 with a solo shot in the eighth.

The Wildcats mounted a rally in the ninth as Brian Perez homer to left center, scoring Carlos Oquita and Franki Febles, but that was all for B-CU as they fell 11-7.

Marcos Gamboa made the start. In two innings, he allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Louis Lipthratt took the loss. He allowed a run in two innings with three strikeouts.

Gerald Bess, Derrius York, and Yoansell Diaz combined to pitch the final four innings.
