DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Nolan Santos's outstanding Wildcats career reached new heights Thursday night as he set a new B-CU program record for strikeouts in a single season in a 5-0 Wildcats win, Thursday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

Nolan Santos wasted no time collecting strikeout number 114 on the season, striking out Daniel Bannon for the second out of the top of the first to surpass his own program record of 113, set last season.Â
The Wildcats (28-23, 19-7 SWAC) did nearly all of their damage in the first inning as Boris Pena singled up the middle to scoreÂ

Garrett Chun, and
Manny Souffrain singled to score Pena to quickly make it 4-0 B-CU.
From there, Jackson State (27-22, 12-16 SWAC) and starter Christian Womble kept the Wildcats hitless until the eighth inning, when Chun singled and came around to score on a
Hylan Hall double.Â
The Tigers put two runners on in the ninth, but they could not push a run across as B-CU finished off the shutout.
Santos made the start. He tossed six innings of scoreless ball, allowing only three hits and a walk while striking out 11. He earned his seventh win of the season.Â
Dale Michaud covered the final three innings, allowing only three hits with four punchouts.Â
- 11 strikeouts marks Santos's ninth double-digit punchout performance this season.Â
- Garrett Chun finished the night 2-1 with two runs scored and two walks.
Game two is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
Daniel Gaviria will make the start for B-CU.Â
