DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - It was all Wildcats in game one as B-CU dominated Alabama A&M, 11-0, in a run-rule victory, Friday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.Â
The Wildcats (22-22, 13-7 SWAC) handled the Bulldogs (12-26, 3-17 SWAC) in dominant fashion from start to finish, opening the scoring in the first with an RBI single by
Robert Moya that scored
Malik Stephens.
B-CU bats came to life in the third as
Brian Perez hammered a hanging breaking ball over the manual scoreboard in left center field. Stephens followed up a pitch later with a solo shot of his own to left to make it 3-0.
The inning continued as
Jason Hodges singled to center, scoring
Hylan Hall.
An inning later, the Wildcats scored three more on a Hall RBI double and an RBi single from Boris Pena.
Colton Olasin singled to left, scoring Hodges and
Irvin Escobar to make it 9-0 in the fifth.
Two runs followed in the sixth on a
Robert Moya triple off the wall in right center. He came around to score on a Hodges groundout.
With an 11-0 lead after seven, the game was called early due to the SWAC's 10-run mercy rule.
Nolan Santos made the start and was outstanding once again for B-CU. In a complete seven innings, he allowed only three hits and a walk. Santos struck out 12 in the contest, including his 100th of the season. He earned his fifth win of the season in the effort.Â
Â
- Every Wildcat reached base safely. Only Irvin Escobar did not record a hit - he walked twice.
- The Wildcats walked four times and struck out only twice.
- Hodges, Moya and Hall finished the game 2-4 with two RBI each. Olasin also finished with two RBI.
