DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Tennis season gets underway as the Wildcats host the Eagles of Georgia Southern Sunday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. at Derbyshire Park.
Back in November, Bethune-Cookman wrapped up the Stetson Invitational in DeLand as they were defeated on day three by Murray State and Florida A&M.
In doubles play, Janet Imbo-Nloga and
Jalayah Shaw were defeated 6-1 by Murray State seniors Sarah Bureau and Annika Pschorr.
Keona Burley and
Loncey Elie lost 6-0 in their matchup against the Racers' Varya Alexeyeva and Valeria Chaikovskaia.
In singles play, Shaw was defeated by Alexeyeva 6-1, 6-1, while Burley was defeated by Sierra Sandy of FAMU 6-1, 6-1.
BCU was able to pick up a singles victory as Imbo-Nloga beat Susan Salinas of FAMU 6-2, 6-4.
One day eariler, the Wildcats, with help from Florida A&M, defeated Saint Leo at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
Two Wildcats, freshmen Janet Imbo-Nloga and
Jalayah Shaw, combined with four Rattlers to form one team for an exhbition match with DII's Saint Leo.
In doubles play, Imbo-Nloga and Shaw defeated Lions freshmen Catherin Rabatin and Madelyn Martin, 6-3.
In singles play, Shaw defeated Rabatin in the #5 spit, 6-1, 6-3.
Imbo-Nlogo, playing in the #6 spot, took down Martin, 4-6, 6-2, on a 10-8 super tiebreaker.
Multiple Wildcats will see their first game-action at B-CU, including sophomore
Allexii Bassette from Miami, and
Tuhina Sambhus, a freshman from Wellington, New Zealand.
