Hobbs and Robinson set mark at Crusader Invite

WORCESTER, Mass. – Bethune-Cookman Women's Golf placed Ashlie Hobbs and Katie Robinson in the top 25 individual leaderboard Tuesday afternoon as the Wildcats finished fifth in the 11-team field of the Crusader Invitational presented by CoveRisk at Worcester Country Club. The event was hosted by Holy Cross.

Bethune-Cookman (332-329=661) shot its fourth-lowest team round of the season in Tuesday's second round, allowing the Wildcats to secure their first top five showing of the year.

Graduate transfer Ashlie Hobbs (81-76=157, +17) cut five strokes from Monday's opening 18 holes in order to finish 11th on the final leaderboard. For the native of Cardiff, Wales, it was her second top 15 appearance of the campaign.

Katie Robinson (82-80=162, +22), a senior from American Canyon, California, lowered her first round scorecard by a pair of strokes on Tuesday en route to a tie for 21st in the field. It was the senior's first top 25 finish of the fall season after winning the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) individual title.

Fellow senior Kamary Leaf (84-85=169, +29) finished tied for 31st in the field of 62. And it was sophomore Meeya Marquez (85-91=176, +36) firing a career-low two-round total. That was enough for the Los Angeles, California, product to finish 42nd overall.

The final golfer for the Wildcats was junior Skylar Kew (91-88=179, +39) as the Canadian was able to pull three strokes from her opening round with her second round 88 scorecard in finishing 47th overall.

Siena (308-309=617) took home the team title in the inaugural event, while Merrimack and the host Holy Cross – fielding two teams for the event, claimed second and third, respectively.

Siena's Mackenzie Whitney (73-75=148, +8) was the individual champion, followed by teammate Jillian Barend (73-78=151, +11) and Ava Lucas (78-73=151, +11) of Merrimack in a tie for second.
