Bethune-Cookman Baseball Announces Partnership with Trackman Systems

Ball-tracking technology set to enhance Wildcat baseball program

DAYTONA BEACH, FL –  Bethune Cookman baseball program has secured a partnership with data-driven Trackman systems, head coach Jonathan Hernandez announced on Wednesday afternoon. The utilization of technology in Trackman is set to capture the most comprehensive and accurate ball-tracking data in practices and as well as in games for the Wildcats baseball program.

TrackMan employs 3D Doppler radar to measure an upwards of a total of 27 total pitching and hitting data points. On the mound, pitchers can track spin rates, release angles, tilt, vertical and horizontal break and more. The technology will also be a useful tool for Wildcat hitters, capturing data points such as exit speed, launch angle, distance, hang time, point of impact and much more.

TrackMan is currently used for player evaluations and player development by all MLB and MILB teams in the US as well as top NCAA Division I baseball programs.

Quotes from Coach In-Story Header

"TrackMan will be a huge benefit to our program and it will most definitely impact every phase of player development going forward for our current and future baseball student athletes here at B-CU," head coach Jonathan Hernandez said. We are committed to helping each player improve, and this technology will be able to provide data in order for us to assist in that pursuit of player development. With the investment made with Trackman, this will no doubt have a huge impact in the growth and development of every baseball student-athlete in our Wildcats program."

"Player development is a critical part of our baseball program," assistant coach Derek Cartaya said. "This partnership with Trackman also sends a message to future B-CU Wildcats that we value player development at the highest level. The technology that will be used provides a great resource for the future of the Bethune-Cookman baseball program. Our Wildcat hitters will be able to learn what areas of the strike zone they can do the most damage from and allow them to understand what style of hitter they really are. We want to have a developmental plan for every player on our roster so they can become the best version of themselves. This data will certainly assist us in the player development process and ultimately give our players the chance to get the most out of Trackman.

"The data and the technology that we are going to be able to utilize with Trackman will allow us to continue to grow the B-CU Baseball program," said pitching coach Joel Sanchez. "Our pitchers will now have access to see how their pitches are working and in which areas we can assist them in improving on to continue their on-field development. It will also allow us to show them what unique qualities their pitches present so we can develop a confident plan attacking hitters."
