BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Wildcats collect two more SWAC weekly honors as Edwin Sanchez and Andrey Martinez were named conference Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, respectivley, it was announced Wednesday from the conference headquarters in Birmingham, AL. 

For the second week in a row to open the season, Sanchez is Pitcher of the Week. He put on a masterclass at the Andre Dawson Classic in Vero Beach as he dominated Florida A&M to the tune of 8 no-hit innings on MLB Network. After allowing his only hit of the game in the top of the ninth, Sanchez finished the day with 8 innings pitched, one earned run, one hit, one walk, and seven strikeouts.

As for Martinez, he collects his first weekly honor of 2026 after a dominant weekend against Yale and FAMU. He recorded five hits, five RBI, two doubles, a and a homer in 14 at-bats.

This marks the third and fourth weekly honors of the season for B-CU. 

The Wildcats will return to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 27 as they host Delaware State for a four-game series. First pitch of the weekend is set for 7 p.m.
