BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior right-handed pitcher Justin Morales has been named SWAC Co-Newcomer of the Week, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced Wednesday from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.

This is Morales' first weekly award of the season and ninth for the team overall.

Justin Morales was stellar in a critical relief role as the Wildcats were able to take the series from Jackson State with a 5-4 win in the finale. Morales earned his second win of the season with 3.2 innings of one-hit ball in which he did not allow a run but struck out four.

Following last night's win over USF, Bethune-Cookman will travel to Louisiana to face the Jaguars with the series scheduled to begin Friday at 7 p.m. EST.
