DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bethune-Cookman University baseball program has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) with the 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization announced Wednesday.
The honor recognizes college and high school baseball programs that maintain a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year. B-CU is among nearly 500 college programs nationwide recognized with the award for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Wildcats posted a 3.41 team term GPA and 3.41 cumulative GPA during the 2025-26 academic year, surpassing the ABCA's minimum academic standard.
B-CU's academic success was highlighted by nine student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.00 term GPA, while 19 of the team's 36 student-athletes – 52.8 percent – recorded a term GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Overall, 31 of 36 Wildcats (86.1 percent) earned academic honors during the academic year. The group included 14 President's List honorees, six Dean's List selections, two Honor Roll recipients and nine student-athletes who earned Honorable Mention recognition.
The academic achievements extended to the classroom and beyond, as six B-CU student-athletes had degrees conferred on May 5. Among the graduates were two Summa Cum Laude honorees, three Magna Cum Laude honorees and one Cum Laude honoree.
