Wildcats Set for First SWAC Pod

B-CU faces four games in packed SWAC weekend.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - SWAC play begins for the Wildcats as they are set for SWAC Pod #1 at the Olean Tennis Center on the campus of Alabama State. The Wildcats face four contests heading into the weekend, beginning with Alabama State on Thursday, Feb. 15. They follow that up with a Friday match with Alcorn State, and a Saturday contest with Prairie View A&M, before wrapping up the weekend with Alabama A&M at 11 a.m. EST Sunday.

Bethune-Cookman Women's Tennis suffered a 7-0 road defeat in the Wildcats first road match of the spring campaign away to Eckerd College on Feb. 10 at the Fred Bullard Courts on the Eckerd campus.   Eckerd (2-0) claimed the doubles point with Bethune-Cookman claiming its first doubles position victory of the season at the No. 2 spot.   The homestanding Tritons won at the No. 1 doubles position 6-0, while Bethune-Cookman (0-5) took the No. 2 position courtesy a 7-5 decision on the strength of the Wildcats' duo of Jalayah Shaw and Allexii Bassette over Eckerd's Olivia Lindestaf and Lara Machado. Eckerd claimed the doubles point at the No. 3 spot with a 6-1 win as Maya Soligo and Maialen Idiakez defeated BCU's team of Loncey Elie and Courdeja Clark.   BCU's Bassette fought strong at the No. 4 singles spot before falling to Eckerd's Soligo on scores of 6-4, 7-5.   Jalayah Shaw took four games in her opening set before suffering a 6-4 setback in the opener to Olivia Lindestaf at No. 2 singles. Shaw fell in the second set 6-0, respectfully.   The Tritons eventually captured match point at the No. 1 singles spot as Janet Imbo Nloga participated in top-flight action for the first time this season, falling in straight sets to Eckerd's Ericka Chavarria on scores of 6-0, 6-3 in a tightly contested second set affair.   At No. 5 singles, BCU's Loncey Elie fell in a hard match 6-2, 6-1 to the Triton's Idiakez.
Scouting the Opponent In-Story Header

Alabama is 2-4 this season, with a 5-2 and 7-0 wins over DII opponents, West Alabama and Montevallo. The Hornets also took a tight 3-4 loss to Kennesaw State. Bea Frachesca Acena is 3-2 in singles play, having won her last three straight. She has yet to drop a doubles match this season. 

Alcorn State is 1-5 this season, with the Braves' lone win coming against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College by a score of 6-1. 

The Panthers are 0-7 this season. They have yet to win a set as a team. 

Alabama A&M is 0-3 this season in matches with Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee State, and Troy.
