DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A slow shooting night saw the Wildcats suffer a 63-58 setback to Alabama A&M, Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium.
Bethune-Cookman (14-13, 5-9 SWAC) opened the contest just 3-18 from the floor, but still kept things to within 7-5 at the first media timeout, and 12-9 at the end of the first quarter
Alabama A&M (6-17, 5-7 SWAC) did not fair much better in the early goings, suffering nine turnovers on five B-CU steals
Chanelle McDonald's and-one cut the deficit to jus 14-13 for B-CU, but the Bulldogs raised their lead back up to 21-13 after seven straight. The two teams entered the half with AAMU leading, 26-19.
The Wildcats kept things within 11 into the second half behind tough paint scoring from McDonald and
Kayla Clark.
D'Shantae Edwards cut the deficit to 37-32 on a driving layup with two minutes to play in the third.
O'Mariyah Tucker drew a foul and made both from the charity stripe to make it a 37-34 game.
A 9-3 Bulldog run to start the fourth quarter made it a nine-point AAMU lead once again with seven to play.

Chanel Wilson three balls with a minute remaining cut it to 58-53. Clark's layup made it a five-point game before yet another Wilson three made it 62-58, but the Wildcats could not complete the comeback as they fell, 63-58.
- Chanelle McDonald led the Wildcats with 12 points with help from a 6-7 finish from the free throw line. She also grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots.
- Kayla Clark and Chanel Wilson also scored 12 each.
- Clark grabbed 12 boards with three steals and a block.
- B-CU scored eight fastbreak points to one for AAMU.
- The Wildcats scored 32 points in the paint.
The Wildcats return to Moore Gymnasium for the 2023-24 home finale as they host Alabama State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
