Cats Stick Close to Home for Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Wildcats will stay close to home as they take a trip to the Embry-Riddle and the ERAU Track & Field Complex for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic Thursday-Saturday, March 28-30.

Five top-ten finishes highlighted another weekend of Bethune-Cookman track and field, this weekend in Orlando. 

Allen Taylor led the way with a 14.83 in the 110m hurdles, good for sixth place. 

Carlos Moore and Kimani Richards each grabbed seventh place finishes in the triple jump and high jump, respectively. 

Montrael Bennet also finished ninth in the 100m with a 10.76.

Also cracking the top-ten was Tyler Washington, whose 14.42m in the shot put was good for ninth. 

For the women, Alyssa Williams finished a team-best 17th in the 400m with a 56.72.

Valencia Butler was solid in mutiple events, including a 25th-place finish in the 400m with a 57.65, and a 17th place finish in the 400m hurdles with a 1:05.85

Thursday's schedule includes the men's decathlon, beginning at 12:30 p.m., followed by the women's heptathlon, set to start at 1 p.m. 

Friday's slate also begins with multis. Field events begin with the hammer throw at 2:30, and running events open at 4 pm with hurdles.

On Saturday, the college discus kicks off the day's events at 9 a.m., while running events begin with high hurdles at 10:40 a.m.

The ERAU Track & Field complex is an eight-lane, 400-meter track featuring a BSS 1000 track surface constructed by Beynon Sports. The facility, which can be fully lit, has bi-directional runways for the pole vault, long and triple jump, a high jump apron, two runways for the javelin and a water pit for the steeple chase. Prior to the start of the 2012 season, the original 120-by-70-yard soccer field was replaced by three throwing areas were added, including hammer, discus and shot put with landing areas.
