JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman managed just one hit as Jacksonville came out with a run-rule victory, 11-0, Tuesday night at John Sessions Field.
Bethune-Cookman (25-20) put a pair of runners on in the first as
Daniel Figueroa led off the game with a single and
Jose Gonzalez reached on an error. A double steal put runners on second and third before a strikeout ended the frame.
Jacksonville (22-20) got on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-out RBI single.
The Wildcats loaded the bases in the top of the third withouth recording a hit as
Jayme Villafane, Manny Soufrain, and Gonzalez walked, but another swinging strikeout stranded the bases juiced.Â
Jacksonville broke things open in the bottom of the inning, plating five runs after loading the bases with a pair of two-run doubles and a passed ball to make it 6-0.
The Dolphins added one more in the fourth, capitalizing on a wild pitch to go up 7-0. They added two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to reach the ten-run run-rule mark and end things early at 11-0.Â
Joel Core made the start and suffered the loss. In two innings he allowed one earned run on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.Â
- Manny Souffrain walked three times. The Wildcats as a team walked seven times to seven strikeouts.Â
- B-CU left seven baserunners stranded
Florida A&M is up next for B-CU in the Wildcats' biggest series of the year. The Wildcats enter play this weekend two games behind the Rattlers for first place in the SWAC east. First pitch of the three game series is set for a 5 p.m. EST first pitch on Friday, May 3 in Tallahassee. Â
