PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Women's Golf will compete in its first match play event in more than five years this week when the Wildcats take part in The Match at the Marsh hosted by Jacksonville University at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The event begins Monday, Sept. 23, and runs through the following afternoon.
Joining Bethune-Cookman in the match play event will be players from host Jacksonville, North Alabama, Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern, Palm Beach Atlantic, Seminole State and Stetson.
Unlike traditional tournaments that feature shotgun starts, Bethune-Cookman faces off against an opponent across each hole trying to win as many holes as possible in the process. A total of three matches are scheduled, with two set for Monday and one Tuesday. Like a tournament bracket, the winning team will advance to the next round, while the losing team plays a consolation match. The team that wins all three matches will be the match play champion.
Opponents and seeding are set to be determined prior to Monday's opening tee time.
The course will play as a par-72, 6,433-yard event. Live scoring for the event is available
