Second Stetson Event for B-CU this Fall

DELAND, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Tennis rounds out the fall schedule this weekend as it heads back to DeLand for the Stetson Invite II, Saturday and Sunday, November 1-2, at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

 Zahara El-ZeinTaylor O'Neal, and Madison Molock each earned wins as the Wildcats participated in the ERAU Hidden Duals this weekend at the Crotty Tennis Center on the campus of Embry-Riddle. 

The three-dav event saw B-CU take on several programs from around the state, including Flagler, Palm Beach Atlantic, and host Embry-Riddle.

With competition beginning on Friday, the duos of Madison Molock and Zahara El-Zein, as well as Jalayah Shaw and Taylor O'Neil each battled to 6-1 decisions with a pair of Flagler duos.

In singles, El-Zein forced a 7-5 decision in the second game before falling to Leah Wachter of Flagler. 

Saturday saw the Cats take on PBA, with B-CU holding its own at 6-3 (Molock / El-Zein) and 6-4 (Shaw / O'Neil).

Singles were again closely contested. with Shaw playing to a 7-5, 6-1 decision against PBA's Virginia Borjah. El-Zein, Molock, and O'Neal each earned wins on their respective courts, defeating Valeria Lopez, Anarella Brito, and Xochiti Celisa, respectively.

El-Zein, in particular, took a 6-4 win in the second game to force a deciding third game in which she rallied for a 10-6 victory. 

The Cats rounded out the weekend of competition against the host Eagles Sunday. Before inclement weather halted the day, Molock led Embry-Riddle's Katelynn Bourk with a 6-4 opening-game win before rain ended the weekend for B-CU. 

Scouting the Opponent In-Story Header

The Wildcats are set for a packed day of competition Saturday, beginning with matches against Murray State / Georgia Southern at 8 a.m., followed by a meeting with Embry-Riddle / Florida A&M at 2:30.

Sunday, the Cats will play just one match against Embry-Riddle / Stetson beginning at 2:30 p.m.
