DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daimoni Dorsey's 17-point effort helped B-CU defeat Albany State 84-72 at Moore Gymnasium. It was the Wildcats' first win of the young season as they were able to take care of business during their home-opener.

1st Quarter
Bethune-Cookman (1-2) got off to a slow start offensively, as they missed their first three shot attempts while committing three turnovers during that span. The Golden Rams were able to take advantage, building an early six-point lead.
The Wildcats quickly responded, outscoring Albany State 19-6 the rest of the quarter. B-CU was able to accumulate 12 points off turnovers and shot 6/7 from the free-throw line.
2nd Quarter
B-CU was able to extend their lead to nine with 8:35 left until half, but Albany State was able to hang around, never letting the Wildcats gain a comfortable advantage.
Both teams shot over 50% from the field in the second period. The Golden Rams outscored B-CU 25-22 thanks to strong interior scoring (16 points in the paint) and forcing and converting points off turnovers.
3rd Quarter
Following halftime, the teams continued to go back-and-forth as Albany State fought hard to remain within a couple possessions. The Wildcats were finally able to extend their lead to double digits with :19 seconds left in the quarter following a fastbreak layup by
Kailyn Peters. The Golden Rams came up with a big shot at the end of the quarter as Sataria Cantrell hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to seven going into the fourth.
Neither team shot well in the period, with both teams finishing under 40% from the field. Albany State picked up nine second chance points as they looked to build momentum for a fourth-quarter comeback.
4th Quarter
The Wildcats finished with their third 20+ point quarter of the evening as they were able to close the door on the Golden Rams. A jumper by the Rams' Quantrese Washington cut the deficit to only three with 9:19 remaining. From here though, the Wildcats came up with a 15-1 run to take control of the game.
B-CU made seven of their 12 attempts during the fourth as they finished off their first win of the 2025-26 season.

B-CU received contributions up and down the lineup as four players scored in double-figures.
Daimoni Dorsey scored 17 points on 6/12 shooting and
Madison Holden scored 13 of her own.
Alexandria Johnson and
Sanai Tyler each had 12.
Chanelle McDonald finished one point and one rebound away from a double-double.
The Wildcats shot 43 free-throws shooting 28-for-43 (65%).

Bethune-Cookman will return to Miami this Saturday to play FIU. The game will begin at 12:00 p.m. EST.
