BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
Trey Thomas has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. It is his fourth weekly honor of the 2024-25 season
Thomas takes home the award after a pair of wins at Alabama A&M and Alabama State in which he scored 35 points with three assists and two steals.Â
This marks the eighth honors for the 2024-25 Wildcats. Thomas overtakes teammate
Brayon Freeman with four weekly awards on the year with Freeman totalling three.  Thomas was last named Impact Player of the Week on February 18.
 The Wildcats begin their final homestand of the season as they host Southern on Saturday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Moore Gymnasium.
