Cats Grab Five Top Ten Finishes in Orlando at Black & Gold Invite

Kasie Ugeh Earns Three Top Ten Finishes

ORLANDO  - The Bethune Cookman University Track and Field team competed in the Black & Gold Invite at the University of Central Florida, Friday and Saturday in Orlando.

The men's team was lead by Junior Shanard Walker who on the field of five runners, placed third in the Men's 200m with a time of 20.82. Freshman Sytrevion Dyer also competed well for the Cats this weekend. He earned a third place finish in the Men's Long Jump with 7.31m. Dyer showed impressive numbers at the Celebration Pointe Classic earlier this season in February - earning a first place finish in the long jump with 7.20m. Additionally, freshman Xavier Bogan has had impressive numbers this season. His fifth place finish in the long jump with 7.19m was big for the Cats. Bogan has also earned a second place finish in the triple jump earlier this season at the Celebration Pointe Classic and saw a first place finish at the Birmingham Indoor Invitational in the long jump.

Victor Kibet's name has been seen time and time again for the Wildcats this season. Between his fifth place finish at the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic, his third place finish at the Ave Maria Invitational, his multiple SWAC Runner of the Week nominations, multiple team and individual records broken at B-CU, and being named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week, Kibet is nothing short of a powerhouse and backbone for the Cats. His performance at the Black & Gold Invite was no different. He earned a sixth place finish in the Men's 5000m with a time of 14:58.25.

The Men's 4x100 Relay also showed an impressive outing for B-CU. Freshman Jancet Wallace was also awarded tenth place in the Men's 400m with a time of 47.58.

On the women's side, junior Kasie Ugeh has shown consistency and promise for the Wildcats this season. She was the only Wildcat woman to earn a top ten finish at the event. Earlier this season at the Celebration Pointe Classic, she earned a second place finish in the shot put with 12.62m. This past weekend, it was multiple events where she shined. Ugeh grabbed seventh place in the javelin with a mark of 39.46m. She also finished ninth in the discuss with 43.18m. But Ugeh wasn't done yet. She earned a tenth place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.09m.
