BIRMINGHAM Ala. - Both Shanard Walker and
Xavier Bogan have been named Southwestern Athletic Conference Athletes of the week, including
Kasie Ugeh who was named Southwestern Athletic Conference Co-Athlete of the Week. It was announced Friday from the conference headquarters in Birmingham, Ala.
Shanard Walker, the junior from Fort Lauderdale, was strong on the track with his performance in the 200m, last weekend at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami. His time of 20.80 earned a national ranking and is the best time by any SWAC athlete this season.
Freshman
Xavier Bogan topped the NCAA leader boards in the Hurricane Invitational. His long jump mark of 7.70m is a top five jump across all of Division I track & field this season.
Junior
Kasie Ugeh was also impressive in Miami. She finished third in the discus with a mark of 42.37m. The Nigerian native also PR'd earier this season at the UCF Invite in the shot put, discus, and javelin.
The Cats are enjoying a home-town visit to Embry-Riddle this weekend at the ERAU Running Elements Classic. The meet is scheduled through Saturday, April 4th and results will be posted afterwards.
