Stetson got a head early with a dominant performance to take the doubles points. The Hatters top duo Anastasija Adeikyte and Katia Tuliakova narrowly defeatedÂ
Rosalida Asumwa andÂ
Maria Romero Vargas 6-4 while the two other duos were defeated in 6-1 decisions.
Bethune-Cookman struggled to garner any momentum in singles play.Â
Jalayah Shaw was called upon at the number one spot while Romero Vargas worked at number two. Five of the duals concluded in straight sets.
Â
"Jalayah had a long battle. The score didn't really show how competitive it was," CoachÂ
Chris Wollett said. "Zahara had some momentum in the second set. The number one doubles group got off to a great start, up 4-1, but then complete momentum swing."
Edward Waters
The Tigers are 0-4 on the season, with losses to Florida A&M, Eckerd College, and back-to-back defeats to Embry-Riddle. Sofia Lopez is responsible for their only point this season, earning it in a tightly contested duel against Eckerd.
Florida
The Gators are 4-1 on the year, with their one loss coming against NC State who was ranked #11 in the country.Â
Among their notable performers is Valery Gynina, who has won seven straight singles matches.
