GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman will make their final trip to Gainesville to participate in the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center Invitational and Multi-Event. The events are set to begin Friday at 9 a.m.
Andrew Kiplagat broke a program record with his 14:24.25 time in the men's 5K, highlighting a strong weekend for track & field at the Legends of Alachua County Invitational.
Kiplagat's time was good for second overall and marks his second record-breaking finish of the track season.
Along with the 5K, B-CU men recorded five top-three finishes. Men's 4 x 400 relay finished first with a time of 3:15.65.
Ashton Matthews took second in the men's high jump with a 1.94m mark, and
Michael Carter finished second in the long jump, managing a 7.32m mark.
Farai Mhende took third with a 14.43m mark in the triple jump.
B-CU women collected two top-three finishes, including a second-place finish in the women's 4 x 400 relay.
Darryn Hough also received third-place for her 1.56m mark in the high jump.
