The Jaguars (4-3) and Wildcats (2-8) split the doubles matches with B-CU's top duo of
Rosalida Asumwa and
Maria Romero Vargas grabbing a 6-2 victory. IU Indy was awarded the point as B-CU did not field a third pairing.
The Cats outplayed the Jaguars in singles play, winning three matches while losing two. Asumwa, Romero Vargas, and
Zahara El-Zein each picked up two-set victories. El-Zein was particularly dominant, dropping just three points to the Jaguars' Calli Sokolowski.
IU Indy, by virtue of a forfeit in the sixth singles match, still collected three singles points, which was enough for the narrow victory.
Alabama State
The Hornets are 2-2 in SWAC play, with dominant wins over Alcorn State and Mississippi Valley State and tight losses to Jackson State and Alabama A&M.
Alexia Champagna has had a standout season for ASU as a freshman. She has gone 7-3 in singles play while recording four victories in doubles.
The Hornets number one position has belonged to Diana Craciun, who is winless in her nine completed matches.
Jackson State
The Tigers are undefeated in conference play with wins over MVSU, Alabama State, and Southern under reigning SWAC Co-Coach of the Year Hernan Geria.
Junior Helen Hernandez has been outstanding in the fifth spot for JSU. She is 6-1 in singles and has accumulated an 8-4 record in doubles play.
Pauala Corbalan has picked up just one win in the number one spot and has yet to win a doubles match against a Division I opponent.
Mississippi Valley State
The Delta Devils are 0-4 in the SWAC and have yet to win a single point this season.
Tori Carter and Lilly Gansauge are the team's top duo but neither have won a set.
Grambling State
Grambling State has yet to play a match this season. All of the team's games have been either canceled or forfeited.
