DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Bethune-Cookman Track & Field will compete locally in Daytona Beach Thursday through Saturday at the Embry Riddle Classic.
For the second straight week,
Michael Carter highlighted the Wildcats in the field, this time at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational in Coral Gables.
Carter picked up where he left off a week ago with a third-place finish in the Long jump at 7.63m.
Amarrion Grant finished just behind with a 7.34m fifth-place jump
On the track, the 4x100 relay finished second, with the team of Grant, Gaines, Walker, and Sharpe running a 40.91.
Majet Bethely and
Gerrard Griffin finished fourth and fifth in the 1500m with a 4:13.01 and 4:14.80, respectively.
Sha'Nard Walker turned in a fifth-place finish in the 100m and third in the 200m.
For the women's squad,
Morgan Middleton was the top finisher with a 2:17.30 in the 800m.
Zion Harvey was the top finisher in the field with a ninth-place, 5.95m long jump.
Kavay Johnson finished tenth in the 400m hurdles with a 1:03.63 time.
On March 27, 2006, the Embry-Riddle Intercollegiate Athletic Department celebrated the opening of the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex. The premier track & field facility in the Peach Belt Conference, the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex has hosted numerous Sun Conference and Peach Belt Conference championship events.
The eight-lane, 400-meter track features a BSS 1000 track surface constructed by Beynon Sports. The facility, which can be fully lit, has bi-directional runways for the pole vault, long and triple jump, a high jump apron, two runways for the javelin and a water pit for the steeple chase.
Thursday will start with multi-events beginning with the men's 100 m at 11:30 p.m. followed by the long jump, shot put high jump and 400 m . The women's heptathlon, 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m will follow at noon.
