Wildcats Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Honors

O'Neal, Vargas earn individual honors

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Women's Tennis has received the 2026 International Tennis Association All-Academic Award, it was announced Monday. 

Additionally, a pair of Wildcats - Taylor O'Neal and Maria Romero Vargas were named 2026 ITA Scholar Athletes

"Building our students-athletes in the classroom is a critical part of what we're building our program on at B-CU," said head tennis coach Chris Wollett. "It has been so rewarding to watch our team put in the work off the court, and we look forward to continuing to build that culture going forward."

The Women's Tennis program collected a team GPA of 3.43 in the spring lf 2026. The B-CU Athletic Department overall produced a GPA of 3.11, with 193 of 291 athletes finishing with a 3.0 or higher.

On the court, the Wildcat tennis program enters the fall of 2026 off it its best year yet as members of the SWAC, reaching the conference tournament for the first time in program history.
