DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Unforced errors got the best of the LadyCats, Wednesday night as they faced the Stetson Hatters at Moore Gymnasium. Though B-CU collected more kills and digs than Stetson, the Hatters came out on top, winning 3-2 in the match.

The LadyCats gave up the first set, never recovering from the five-point deficit they built in the opening volleys. However, the LadyCats brought a much tougher match in the second, rallying to move ahead at mid-set, and then controlling a lead as many as six to put the Hatters away 25-19.

In the third, B-CU claimed the lead early and fought off three separate rallies from Stetson, controlling the momentum to earn a 2-1 advantage with a 25-21 win. The fourth set looked like the tide had turned after the early setback, as the LadyCats claimed an early lead. However, a series of errors pushed the Hatters on top and extended their lead. The LadyCats came charging back, making a run that came as close as three, but B-CU fell short, losing 25-21.

Early in the tie breaker, the LadyCats fell into a hole, but they regained their composure and kept it tight near the middle of the set. B-CU never let Stetson distance themselves before making a rally to tie it back up, and move into the winning position with a 3-1 jump to make it 14-13 in B-CU's favor. Into extra points, B-CU tied it up four times, but could never cash in on chances to move ahead, as the Hatters finished off the match with two straight kills for the 21-19 win and the 3-2 match victory.

As the team, several B-CU players hit well, with five players hitting over .368. B-CU outhit Stetson, 69 kills to 58, but the timing of unforced errors created unfavorable situations on the scoreboard. B-CU also topped the Hatters in digs, collecting 75 to the SU 73. The errors caught up with the B-CU offense, logging 31 to Stetson's 15.

Offensively leading the way for B-CU, Kaiyana Johnson hit .458 to tally up a team-high 13 kills. Kat Agson (.381 hit %) and Jessica Wilson each put in 10 kills each, meanwhile Linda Nwabuko put in 8 kills of her own. Alexis Bliese got in on all aspects of the game, hitting .429 on 3 kills, while collecting 29 assists and 11 digs. Leading on defense, libero Jennifer Jimenez tallied 16 digs, followed by Shanicka Reddick with 15 and Wilson with 14.

The LadyCats (7-26) finish up their season at home on Friday afternoon, playing a 3:00 match with Norfolk State for Senior Day, in which the LadyCats will celebrate outgoing players Kaiyana Johnson and Shanicka Reddick.
