Dover, Delaware -
Delaware State used red-hot shooting (59% in the game) and limited the Wildcats to 50 points to sweep the season series, winning 67-50 at home Saturday afternoon.

Delaware State (13-9, 8-3 MEAC) remains in second place in the conference with the impressive home win.
Bethune-Cookman (14-11, 6-5 MEAC) next plays at Maryland-Eastern Shore Monday night.

"The pace was too quick. They got out in transition on a couple of our turnovers and converted those into baskets," said B-CU Head Coach Cliff Reed. "They were much better than us tonight. In Daytona (77-60 loss in January) - we played them tough for most of the game and it was not a 17-point game. Tonight, they were the better team. Everybody, all five of their players on the floor can hit shots - off the dribble drive penetration."

The Hornets nailed 7-13 three-pointers (54%) and hit 26-44 field goals in the game, including a blazing 12-19 field goals (63%) in the first half. Delaware State led 35-27 at the half and tallied nine points off B-CU's eight first half turnovers.

In the second half, the Wildcats closed to within four points (43-39, with 13:26 to play) on a three-point play by Albert Abrahams. Then DSU went on a 18-4 run over the next eight minutes to go ahead by 18 - 61-43, with 5:26 to play.

Nine Hornets scored in the ball game and were led by Marcus Neal scoring 17 points and totaling 5 rebounds hitting 7-11 field goals and 3-6 three-pointers. Guard Jay Threatt scored eight points and had 10 assists for the winners. Inside player Frisco Sandidge scored 14 points and five rebounds.

DSU LIMITS C.J. REED TO FIVE POINTS AND SIX SHOTS

Delaware State played outstanding team defense running two and three players at B-CU's scoring leader C. J. Reed (16.8 points/game) and the Hornets shut down Reed throughout the ball game. Reed scored five points and was 2-6 in field goals, -1-2 three-pointers and he had three assists in the contest.

"They completely took him (C. J) out the game and kept the ball out of his hands," said Coach Reed. "Our inability for us to make plays and not have other players step up hurt us.  I played my younger players (freshman) more and they need to continue to improve and get better." Freshman Aric Miller logged 19 minutes in the ball game.

Freshman Albert Abrahams had 9 points and 6 rebounds (all offensive) in the game. B-CU was 19-45 field goals (42%) and they out-rebounded DSU 27-21 in the road loss (16 offensive rebounds for B-CU).

The 'Cats Kene Anusionwu, senior center, missed the game with a broken ankle suffered Monday night at Morgan State.
