DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 2012 Bethune-Cookman baseball season is coming up fast at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Along with practice starting on January 17th to start their journey in search of a seventh straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title, the Wildcats are gearing up for a new type of event to set off the season.

On February 11th, starting at 11:00 a.m., Bethune-Cookman baseball will host its inaugural Fan Appreciation Day at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The event will provide many options for fans to interact with the 2012 Wildcats.

Starting promptly at 11:00, B-CU will host a Free Baseball Clinic for players 13 and under, providing basic instruction and training drill stations, featuring the Bethune-Cookman players and coaches.

Afterward, the Wildcats will settle in to meet and greet B-CU fans with an autograph session, with free posters and schedule cards available on site.

The event also will serve as a debut for some of the new fan promotions for the 2012 season, with details provided on B-CU's Fan of the Game and Year, and Fraternity/Sorority of the Game and Year contests.

“As the head coach at Bethune-Cookman, my staff and I are building a program that our community can call their own,” said Head Coach Jason Beverlin. “We are very excited about our 2012 team and what the future holds. Fan Appreciation Day is a great opportunity for our coaches and student athletes to build a relationship with our community. By providing a free clinic to youth players 13 and under, it gives us a chance to give back to the game of baseball while teaching the kids the fundamentals.”

This inaugural event provides fans and members of the community a unique opportunity to become familiar with the 2012 team, meet the new coaching staff, led by Coach Beverlin, and get a preview of the 2012 team.
