DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Delicia Pierre doubled-doubled with 13 kills and 13 digs in Bethune-Cookman's 3-1 (16-25,25-17,25-14,25-22) loss to Stetson Wednesday night in Moore Gym.
Hazel Ortiz-Rosado (26 assists, 10 digs) also double-doubled as the Lady Cats (6-18) stormed out to a convincing win in the first set. Bethune-Cookman saw an early 10-3 lead in the fourth set fade.
Rhea Simon finished with eight kills, while Rakaya Neely and Lauren Turner each added five. Neely, a freshman, posted nine blocks.
Normarie Rolon had a match-high 15 digs to pace the Lady Cat defense.
Ortiz-Rosado, a junior, registered her sixth double-double of the season and also posted two service aces, bringing her season total to 33.
Shelby Connor led Stetson (14-7) with 16 kills.
Bethune-Cookman returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend, travelling to Savannah State Friday and South Carolina State Sunday.
