DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Felicia Baker (bowling) and Mikel Trapp (men's basketball) have each been named as Bethune-Cookman University Chick-fil-A Student-Athletes of the Week for Feb. 10-16, 2014. For both student-athletes, this is their second Chick-fil-A weekly award of the 2013-14 campaign. Baker earned the honor on Dec. 9, while Trapp picked it up a week later.
Felicia Baker, a junior from Marietta, Ga., helped the Wildcats bowling team to a seventh place showing over the weekend as part of the Third Annual Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Bethune-Cookman in DeLand, Fla. The 5-4, right-handed bowler took part in five traditional matches, as well as all eight baker matches for the Cats. In baker play, she helped B-CU claim victories over top-ranked Arkansas State, Alabama A&M and Monmouth, respectively. In traditional games, Baker served as the high-average bowler for the Cats, picking up games of 180, 189 and 179 for an average of 171.6 on the weekend. In traditional play, she was instrumental in helping the Wildcats take down nationally-ranked McKendree.
Mikel Trapp, a 6-2, 195-pound redshirt junior guard from Blair, S.C., helped the B-CU men's basketball team to a 1-1 record last week, including a record-setting performance against South Carolina State. Against the Bulldogs, Trapp shot 90 percent from the field, including a perfect 7-for-7 performance from beyond the arc. He finished the game with a career-high 33 points, two steals and an assist. Over the weekend, he turned in a 13-point night at North Carolina Central, shooting 4-for-6 from the floor (3-of-5 from three-point range), and grabbing a steal and handing out one assist. Through the two games played, Trapp averaged a team-leading 23 points and shot 81.3 percent from the field (83.3 percent from long range).
