Hunt, Moody Garner Homewood Suites Weekly Awards

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Ashanti Hunt (Women's Basketball) and Mario Moody (Men's Basketball) have each been selected to receive the Homewood Suites Student-Athlete of the Week award for the period of December 14-20, announced Monday afternoon by the B-CU Department of Athletics. For Moody, he is the first back-to-back Homewood Suites award winner of the 2015-16 campaign.

Ashanti Hunt, a 5-11, redshirt freshman guard from Washington, D.C., had one of her most successful games of her career last week in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opening win against South Carolina State at home inside Moore Gymnasium. Hunt poured in a career-best 17 points and grabbed down nine rebounds. She shot a blistering 58.3 percent from the floor, adding an assist and picking up four steals in the 65-50 win over the Bulldogs.

Mario Moody is earning his second consecutive Homewood Suites Student-Athlete of the Week award after averaging a team-best 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats. B-CU took down South Carolina State in a MEAC opening win at home in Moore Gymnasium, before falling on the road to Akron in non-conference play. Moody, a 6-7, 215-pound redshirt senior forward from East Orange, New Jersey, transferred into Bethune-Cookman from Wagner. On the week, he shot 50 percent from the field, adding 71.4 percent from the foul line. He grabbed down a game-high 14 rebounds at Akron, while posting four blocked shots on the night. Against S.C. State, Moody registered a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds, posting three blocks and two steals on the defensive end of the court.
