DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For their performances representing Bethune-Cookman Basketball during the holiday break, Taylor Houston (women's basketball) and Jordan Potts (men's basketball) have each been selected to receive the Homewood Suites Student-Athlete of the Week awards for the period of January 4-10, 2016.
Taylor Houston, a 6-0, redshirt junior guard from Raleigh, North Carolina, led the Wildcats in scoring average and tied for tops in rebounding in two games played prior to the new calendar year. She averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds at the FAU Holiday Tournament in Boca Raton, Florida. A day later in a win over LIU Brooklyn, Houston amassed 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field, adding a three-pointer and going a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. She would go on to contribute a blocked shot, an assist and a steal, as well as hauling in eight rebounds (five offensive).
Jordan Potts, a 5-10, 185-pound point guard from Columbus, Ohio, is earning his third Homewood Suites award of the 2015-16 year. The former UNC Greensboro guard averaged 18.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and two steals in games against Brown, Jacksonville and Grand Canyon, respectively.
