B-CU Bowling In 15th At Sam Houston State

HOUSTON – The Bethune-Cookman University bowling team is in 15th place after the second day of competition of the Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State University.

The Wildcats posted a pinfall of 4,183 during Saturday's traditional matches, bringing their two-day to total to 9,254. Nebraska leads the 17-team field with 10,959, followed by Sam Houston State (10,890) and Vanderbilt (10,885).

Bethune-Cookman went 0-4 in head-to-head play, slipping to 1-9 in the tournament. The Wildcats fell to Lincoln Memorial (791-771), Stephen F. Austin (916-830), Louisiana Tech (915-810) and Sam Houston (936-881). The Wildcats' best game of the day, an 891, came against an open frame.

Individually, Krysta Coleman led the Wildcats with a five game average of 195.6, including the individual high game of 237. She finished 25th in the individual standings.

Ivory Miles averaged 183.2 with a high of 217, while Bethany Gray-Shealey averaged 160 in two games, Amyre Teasley 158.8, Nia McConico 152.8 and Gabriella Irwin averaged 137 in three games.

Bethune-Cookman will begin championship bracket play Sunday morning against Southern University.
