ORLANDO, Fla. – Defending National Champion Stephen F. Austin won the Wildcat Classic hosted by Bethune-Cookman University Sunday at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando.
The top-seeded Lumberjacks defeated Sacred Heart 4-2 in the finals. Earlier, SFA erased a 2-0 deficit and posted a 192-184 in the final game of a seven-game semifinal victory over Maryville.
UAB, seeded second but upended by Sacred Heart in the semifinals, finished third followed by Maryville.
Individually, Sacred Heart's Rachel Bamford averaged 211.0 in her six traditional games for the tournament high, followed Maryville's Elizabeth Paul at 203.5.

Highlighting the Lady Wildcats weekend was freshman
Ashley Beckley posting a season high 224 and finishing 18
th individually with an average of 185.5. Beckley also had a 205.

Bethany Gray-Shealey (150.67) was 32
nd,
Shekinah Staten (100.33) 54
th and
Faith Calvin 60
th (84.5).
"Overall it was a great weekend," said BCU Head Coach
Chelsea Gilliam. "We continue to improve in different areas and will take a lot from this weekend and start preparing for the next conference tournament. Lots of talent and great competition all weekend. I'm so grateful to all the teams that made the trip and look forward to seeing them and more next year."
BCU returns to action Feb. 21-23 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play hosted by Florida A&M in Pensacola.
