DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bethune-Cookman University Women's Bowling team was recently recognized by the National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) for its classroom success with a 2019-2020 All-Academic Team Award.

The Lady Wildcats were one of 57 teams to carry a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic year.

"Excelling in the classroom is very important to me. Since I've been here we have wanted team GPA records and I know we will continue to improve moving forward," said BCU Head Coach Chelsea Gilliam.  This is an honor I strive for my team and student-athletes to achieve every year. To achieve this during one of the toughest semesters we've all experienced says a lot about how hard the girls worked at home. I'm proud of them and can't wait to have them back on campus and back on the lanes."
 
Individually, Shekinah Staten, a freshman from Daytona Beach, was one of 379 honored nationally with a GPA of 3.4 or higher.
